“A book should be an ice-axe to break the frozen sea within us.”
Friday, May 20th, 2011Our favorite quote from Franz Kafka, and possibly our favorite quote ever, from any writer, about books.
We’re obsessed with the new Kafka covers that Peter Mendelsund designed for Schocken. We want to stare at them endlessly. We want to print them on silk and wear them as scarves at BEA. We want to tattoo one of them in a private place (don’t try to guess where).
We want to move to a bigger apartment so we can hang posters of all of them above our sofa, and invite friends over to talk about music, and the best places to drink wine in Prague.
For your computer, iPad or iPhone: here are two splendid wallpapers that Peter designed. Feel free to download them, and share them with your customers via your website and/or your extremely clever e-newsletters.
(And do check out Peter’s blog about book design: it’s required reading around here.)
